It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

She was a child and I was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea,
But we loved with a love that was more than love---
I and my Annabel Lee---
With a love that the winged seraphs of Heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, by night
Chilling my Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsmen came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in Heaven,
Went envying her and me: ---
Yes! --- that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud, chilling
And killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we---
Of many far wiser than we---
And neither the angels in Heaven above
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee: ---

For the moon never beams, without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I see the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling, my darling, my life and my bride,

それはもう　ずっと　ずっと　昔の話
　　　海のほとりの王国に
女の子が一人住んでいた　知ってるかもしれないが
　　　名前を　アナベル・リーっていった
この女の子は　ただただ　ぼくを愛して
　　　ぼくに愛される　それだけを考え　生きていた


ぼくは子どもで　あの子も子ども
　　　この　海のほとりの王国で
だけど　ぼくらは　愛以上の愛で愛しあった―
　　　ぼくとぼくのアナベル・りーは
その愛のせいで　翼ある天国の天使たちが
　　　あの子とぼくを　むじゃみに欲しがった


そういうわけで　ずっと昔
　　　この　海の」ほとりの王国で
風が　雲から巻き起こり
　　　ぼくのきれいなアナベル・りーの　温かみを奪っていった
そして　あの子の高貴な男子血族が」やって来て
　　　ぼくから　あの子を連れ去って
あの子を　お墓に閉じ込めた
　　　この　海の王国で


天使たちは　天国にいて　ちっとも幸せじゃなく
　　　あの子とぼくを　妬んで
そうさ！―　だから(みんな　知ってる　この　海の王国で)
風が　夜　雲から巻き起こり
　　　ぼくのアナベル・リーを凍らせ　殺した

だけど　ぼくらの愛は　はるかに強かった
　　　大人の愛と比べても
　　　賢い人のと比べても
空の向こうの天使たちも
　　　海の深みの魔ものたちも
ぼくの心を断ち切れない
　　　あのきれいなアナベル・リーの心から


月が照れば　かならず　ぼくは
　　　あのきれいなアナベル・リーを感じてる
夜どおし　ぼくは　あの子のそばに横たわる
いとしい―　ぼくのいとしい―　ぼくのいのちの新妻
